WE'RE OFF TO THE MARQUESAS

Thursday 19 Feb 7pm 01:00UTC
After about 10 days in the Galapagos the ants in our pants were biting so we got the F out of there at 1pm earlier this afternoon. We have been motoring, heading around 230 degrees, making a beeline for the SE trade belt. Currently the sea is smooth except for some long period SW swell which does not affect us from a comfort point of view. We rigged up a rain catcher whilst in Wreck Bay and we chased after a few rain squalls to fill the water tank. Our watermaker is slowly spitting the dummy so we have to have a back up form of water supply. We have so many miles ahead of us that it makes no difference how 'straight' we drive at this point, so if we see rain we head for it!
We had an OK time in Wreck Bay with a few fun surfs at a spot called Carola and a great session at solid 8ft Loberia which is like an open ocean right hand reef break very similar to many Cape reef breaks. I was in my element, showing the local boys just how deep and late one can actually take off on a 6'1. But I will write more of the quirks of Isla San Cristobal in another email.
Our current position is 01deg17.558S, 090deg04.511W, our heading is 231deg which is south of southwest. We are south of Isla Santa Maria doing around 5,6knots with one engine. The main is up but there is zilch wind. I just put it up before sunset in case a bit of wind shows during the night, then I dont have to raise it in the dark. We had 5 lines out the back but caught nutting. There is no moon (i thinks its going new) so its a pitch black night.
Everyone is doing well, Andy cooked a great dinner with Wahoo steaks and Yuca (local vegetable). Josh is starting to get amped up for his birthday on the 23rd. I pre-bought him some prezzies in Pedregal so we are covered on that front.
Trevor I would mucho appreciato a weather report, also can you maybe find out where exactly the ITCZ is situated at the moment?
Thanks and howzit to everyone following our progress. We only have 3100 nautical miles and 1 month at sea ahead of us.
Ciao (soon to be Bonjour)
