DAY 13

Day 13
6pm, 02:00UTC (changed our local time by two hours) pos 9deg20S, 116deg59W distance to Fatu Hiva is 1283
Been struggling to get a sailmail connection, so these daily reports my become sporadic.
All of us are well on shimmi. Spirits are a bit low, had a rough night last night with a big south swell side swiping shimmi we had to sail in a NW direction for a while just to have some level of comfort. Josh is not feeling great with a bit of runny tummy. Been keeping him on fluids. My exema made a major come back, i had to go back on cortisone for relief. I have only slept a few hours over the past 6 nights as my skin is driving me insane. But its better now. We are still running under only the spinnaker, last night we had a gnarly broach but we survived it OK. Still no rain despite the fact that we have a semi permanent squall south of us. The spinnaker point of sail is slowly pushing us above our rhumb line, we may end up broad reaching to Fatu Hiva the last few days under full sail, but we will see what happens. We changed our clocks on board today to follow the sun. We are now UTC minus 8hrs. Our food on board is lasting well, we are in the potatoes and pumpkin stage of the veggies. Still a few tomatoes. Our bread substitute are tortillas, the ones that you don't have to freeze, we have about 10 packs of them on board, they are a long distance cruising winner. The watermaker is holding the tank at just under half. We have missed so many close rain squalls, statistically we should 'get one' very soon. Otherwise day 13 was a mentally tough day, a groundhog day of note. The gennie is doing fine, no hiccups since i sorted it out yesterday.
Andy just cooked us a nice basil pesto/pasta, he is not as seasick as he used to be. Indie fell down and made a hole with his tooth through his lower lip. Bit of blood, then some ice, all ended fine. We've been reading up about Fatu Hiva and its Bay of Virgins, it sounds stunning. Also various rumours of a mysto lefthander which we are getting amped about.
Hanging in there
