DAY 4

Day 4
00:00 local, 06:00UTC
pos 15deg33.4S, 157deg29.4W
At the start of day 4. The sky is a perfectly black canvass for a the billions of stars on display. For the past 24hrs we have been sailing or motorsailing or motoring in whichever westerly direction we could, ranging from southwest (with a NW wind), west (with a S wind) and northwest (motoring with no wind) . Lots of zigzagging. Sound strange? Its called making a passage under sail, and it does not happen along a straight line. We used the engine for 13 of the past 24 hrs... hopefully some form of proper trade wind will arrive soon and just blow us straight to Fiji without us having to touch the sails once they are up... yeah right. But we have managed get above 16deg of latitude, we are slowly moving to lower latitudes, whenever we motor we aim more northwest, so that we can avoid that low pressure which is soon coming to theaters near yours truly.
The sea is still fairly calm, it was a better day for the kids, Josh is making a comeback although he is eating like a bird. Indie however still eats like a industrial strength garbage disposal machine, he is in this respect a true Malherbe. You cannot even think of walking past him with food in your hand.
Kahlil, our new crew member, has just completed writing a novel. He majored in human genetics at university , and his novel is about a guy who engineers a disease to "cull" the human race to a more eco friendly size. Nice. So I've been proof reading the first and only copy.
We may stop in Tonga on the way through to Fiji and I would really appreciate any tips of where to find the surf there... Please email me with any info.
Cheers
