DAY 8 -

T's Note: I guess my weather information bears little relationship to this.....................
Day 8
1am
15deg12S, 166deg50W
We are getting clobbered. 35 knot winds out of the SSE, 12 ft SW groundswell, 6 ft SE wind swell across it, 3 reefs in the main, we are heading for Apia, Western Samoa, 298 miles away. Huge underdeck slams, lots of waves over the boat, we are sailing at 120degrees doing 8-9-10 knots with a triple reefed main. Crazy shit and be lucky that you are not on shimmi right now. Waves are breaking and the white water washes over the side, into the cockpit, like a fire hose at times (but not too often). We have another 40 hrs of this ahead of us. Yipppeeeeee!
Thank fuck I have another very competent crew, Kahlil, on board.
But shimmi is holding together, we are running as much with it as we can, not much sleep to be had by the adults, although the 2 little pirates are nicely passed out.
Lets cross our fingers that it does not get worse!
Cheers
