183 MILE DAY!

We had a 24hr run of 183 miles ... hows that for haulin' ass under sail! An average of just less than 8 knots! Viva shimmi. We should be arriving in Wreck Bay, San Cristobal by lunchtime tomorrow (30hrs from now). The wind we had was a 15 knot Southeaster, it looked like, smelled like, walked like and talked like a tradewind, but I am not 100% sure if it was in fact a duck. Certainly walked line one.
Its 530am (10:30UTC), our pos is 01deg52.75N by 87deg44.83W, we are still more or less on our rhumb line, the wind has dropped to around 8-10knots SE so we are motorsailing as I need to charge the batteries anyway. When sailing at night under autopilot i have to run an engine every 4hrs to charge. It may be more effective and use less fuel to run the gennie instead, but right now we need the extra push. The sea state has finally improved, no more rogue chops, just a smooth uneven ocean which is great thank you very much. Still no fish. Andy is still feeling shit although he has not thrown up and is eating fine. He has been feeling crappy the WHOLE way so far (mild but persistent malaise and nausea), he cant wait to see the Galapagos. I think the whole cruise has been a shock to his whole body... I told him if he wants to call it a day in Galapagos thats fine by us but he says it is his 'right of passage' and he is in it for the long haul... we shall see. He does his watches fine but cant yet cope with cooking meals - Chantal has been a total STAR in the galley, keeping everybody fed and happy, she also does the 4-8am watch which coincides with Indie and Josh waking up.
