I'm on the 4am watch and we JUST crossed the equator. I watched the chart plotter go to 00 00 00, took a photo of the said chart plotter, looked around at the sea lit up by the full moon and absolutely bloody nothing! No red stripe, no sign boards, no sirens, nada. So I'm celebrating by having a granola bar.
We have 9 hours to go. It feels so much better that we are finally on this journey of crossing the Pacific. The build up over the last few months was way too emotional. How will the kids handle? How the hell do you shop for food for 8 months? Is the boat ready etc etc etc? I thought I knew my little boys, but they have surprised me the most. I would even go as far as saying that they enjoyed this 7 day Galapagos crossing. Josh has been on super Shimmi school mornings with Golla and he loves loves loves it. When the sea was rough for 4 days Indie quickly adapted, realised he couldn't walk around and just snuggled up to me and played with his toys and thankfully loves paging through books. A couple of times he even fell asleep on my lap, rare!
Andy's sea sickness is over so we were all spoiled with a new fish recipe last night. So it's back to Chonny on breakfast + lunch duty and Andy on dinner. Andy has just melted into Shimmi life. It is a pleasure to have him on board. We're all getting enough sleep which means we can handle whatever the ocean throws at us.
