Hi Noomeister
Groundhog day on shimmi. No wind, confused glassy seas with big rolly chops, it just does not want to flatten out. Just cruising on one engine doing 4 knots. I re-calculated fuel and we should make it with a quarter tank to spare (80 liters). Both engines reached their 100 hr service interval so I changed oil and filters on both. The engines are running really well touch wood. I am running them at 2100 rpm which is about 75%.
It is 3pm (20:00UTC), our postion is 04deg53.663N and 084deg51.497W, course is still 220deg, 426 nm to go. We did 106nm over the past 24 hrs averaging just over 4 knots. Progress is slow because the sea is NOT flat. Shimmi school today was making and painting cardboard houses out of the little filter boxes. We have 3 lines out the back but no fish. Indie and Chantal are having a nap.
We have a new crew member who came aboard early last night. It is a red footed Booby (looks like a brown seagull), totally tame. Its been sitting up on the bow, resting, sleeping, shitting, preening and the occasional aerial attack on the flying fish. Its probably from one of the Galapagos colony's.
Pray for wind!
